The WAY of Unsurpassed Peace

The word peace is rooted in the Hebrew concept of Shalom. Shalom is a precious word to the Jewish people. It means much more than just the absence of war or distress. This above and beyond sort of peace includes wholeness, completeness, health, security, and even prosperity in the best sense of the word. When you are enjoying God’s peace, there is joy and contentment. But, God’s peace is not like what the world offers us. The world bases “peace” on having things, while God’s peace depends on relationships. To be right with God means to enjoy the peace of God. In this world, peace, hope, and love are things that you work for, but in God’s economy, these things are wonderful gifts. Jesus promises us peace... but not just any peace... an overcoming peace that doesn’t make sense in light of our circumstances... that cuts through our hardships... and that restores us from brokenness. Jesus knows our hearts are easily troubled... but, as we draw closer to Him, we find a peace that transcends our understanding. This is the way.
